It is important to be aware and look out for unexplained changes in your body. Symptoms of cancer can often also be symptoms of other non-cancerous illnesses, however it is always best to be aware of changes in your body and to visit your local GP if you have any concern. You should not be concerned about going to your GP to get things checked. The earlier the cancer is found, the more likely it is to be cured.
Those in the farming community spend the majority of their time outside and therefore have greater contact with ultraviolet light from the sun. Melanoma is a type of skin cancer, thought to be caused by ultraviolet light exposure. The most common sign of melanoma is the appearance of a new mole or a change in an existing mole.
